Shopping Ban Update: Slip-Up #1

It all started with a hole in my tights…

I thought this was a good reason to head downtown after work. I asked my co-worker to accompany me so that I would be monitored and I didn’t shop. I also enjoy his company. The only setback was that my co-worker ended up having to work late and I ended up shopping alone.

First stop: Aritzia

Verdict: One necessary purchase

Excuse: My old black Talula leggings were wearing a little thin and getting a little grey too many washes. Acceptable right?

Second stop: Holt Renfrew

Excuse: I have to walk through Holt Renfrew in order to get to the Joe Fresh store.

Verdict: Pass (I only drooled over these two purses)

Rebecca Minkoff MAC Clutch (and the Morning After Bag). Only $295 USD. *drool*

Michael Kors Calista Satchel. $398 USD. Kind of reminds me of the Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag but in a gorgeous camel coloured leather;

Third stop: Joe Fresh

Excuse: I need a new pair of black tights. (They’re a bargain at $5 a pair)

Verdict: …

What do you think happened?

Super cute grey pumps with bows on the front. Only $29 CDN! But I resisted even though they were really comfy and fit perfectly with a reasonable 2.5 inch heel.

Knit sweatpant-like legging type pants. Only $39. This is where I fail… I needed them. I don’t know why, but they would be super cute worn with my white loose pocket tank from Club Monaco. And I would wear them at home all the time, so comfy! They fall under the pyjama/loungewear category which sounds like it might be a “necessity”.

I can hear the skepticism as I type this. This is only a minor slip-up and will not happen again. I didn’t even find the tights I wanted because they had completely sold out of the black. That only means that I’ll have to go back and NOT give in to “trying on a few things just for fun”. I fail at shopping alone.

Lesson learned: Don’t shop alone without some major practiced control and do not try on things “just for fun” while unmonitored.  I am lame and will find any excuse to shop.

Also, a tip for those who get holes in their tights like me: Try wearing the tights backwards. This will stretch out the hole a lot less than wearing them right side front and no one will be the wiser. A good tip from my co-worker. Thanks, L!

Any tips to help me stay on track are very welcome! 🙂

  1. I hate that “F” word 😦 You did a shopping ban last time, so you can do it again! Just remember how rewarding it was before 🙂 Add oil!!!*

We can do other fun activities…perhaps you can help me prepare for my craft fair? 😉 hehehe

  2. LOL – such a cute post! I have “minor” slip-ups like that all the time. Good luck with your shopping ban! Joe Fresh doesn’t count…it falls under the Groceries category. :oP
